UNDER THE SOUTHERN CROSS

Follow the winds of memory, history, and landscapes as Jack Nanaimo’s poetry guides you through a rhythmic journey of life, reflection, and the world around us.   Because apparently scrolling TIKTOK isn’t enough depth for your soul.

Along the Roaring Forties south of Australia
Cold winds blow, free around the globe
A great navigator is flying the icy fringes of Antartica
The Albatross’s home on the ocean’s cold robe

Gone for months gliding over the waves
Bad weather a detail in its free flight so brave
As it lives its life far from shore and nests and home
In a model of free energy using wind power alone

Hovering low over the icy ocean caps
Cold spray never minded in its low air attack
Hunting fish in the sea never looking at maps
Gliding free over waves in its ocean track

From North Of The 49th

This poem doesn’t linger on maps or paths; it moves with the albatross over icy oceans, letting you feel what it means to navigate without borders, relying only on wind, instinct, and resolve.
