WHAT MEMORIES DO THE RAINDROPS HAVE
370TH POEM PUBLISHED AUGUST 20, 2026
(This poem has been re-written August 21, 2026)
What memories do the raindrops have
Continually reborn and living forever
In the ancient cycle of water over the world
Above and below and flowing on earth
Seeing all things since time began
Never dying since their primordial birth
What memories do the sunbeams have
Travelling from the start of time
Watching the horizon as mighty galaxies rise
From the far reaches of the universe in primordial skies
Landing on earth granting nature “to be”
Lending warmth for life
And light for eyes to see
What memories do the clouds have
Riding the winds never asking where they go
Rising and billowing seeing the vastness of earth
As sunbeams peak through watching life give birth
Angry or calm or majestic as they watch puny man
Bow to their towering beauty
Or cower as lighting is hurled and the winds howl
With nature’s sound as if doom roars and thunders and growls
What a wonder is the view made by nature
For as many have said
It can’t be kept down
It’s defences heavy and though man fills it with dread
It has always won since man first stood on ground
The eyes of nature have been always open, ready to astound
Living forever with a watchful intensity so profound
That man might not like, for he may be run aground
(the stanza on water tries to represent the unending rhydrologic cycle)
