ALL  SQUARE?

All Square was an expression
That people used to say
When work was done well
At the end of the day

For when something was built
And the work was all square
It was fit to be called good
As it was built with care

Used as an expression when a deal was struck
“All Square?” was asked to make sure all was ok
Clearing the air so neither side had to duck
The words a hallmark giving both sides good luck

Then there is Maga trying to push Canada into the muck
Never asking “is all square?” telling us that we suck
As Canadians are slapped in the belly with a cold US fish
Saying we are subservient, and just a meal on an American dish

Canada is being bullied with nonsense
As America is offering nothing that makes sense
Pushing dumb narratives by hook or by crook
And mostly by crook trying to impale Canadians

On Maga’s bent and rusty dull hook
Canada will ensure it sits at the table and is not part of any meal
Unless “all is square” Canada won’t make a deal
For Canadians won’t bend and will never kneel

Going it alone, never to be a pawn under the Maga heel

From North Of The 49th

The rest of the book doesn’t ask you to take a side. It asks you to notice when the idea of a “side” itself stops making sense.
